New investment areas have emerged for the region's provinces in a wide variety of areas, from animal husbandry to tourism, from agricultural industry to high-tech production. In this sense, investment priorities were planned based on the potential of the regional provinces to increase employment and ensure economic diversity.
With the Local Development Move Incentive Program, investments in the designated areas are supported in different ways depending on their size, from tax deductions to assistance with insurance premiums, from interest or dividend contributions to the allocation of investment locations and exemption from income tax. Under the program, which is expected to provide financial support of up to 301 million lira and a tax deduction of 50 percent of the investment for each investment, investment support will be provided to various sectors in the provinces of the Eastern Anatolia Region. This support is carried out by 26 development agencies under the coordination of the Directorate General of Development Agencies.
The focus is on animal husbandry and aquaculture production
The program will support alternative tourism investments in Ağrı, integrated meat and dairy farming projects with a minimum capacity of 1000 sheep and 300 cattle, and investments in geothermal greenhouses.
The areas to be promoted in Ardahan include, in addition to investments in livestock production, four-star accommodation and above, goose farming and furniture production, while in Bingöl incentives will be given for investments in thermal tourism, beekeeping and aquaculture production.
In Bitlis, where industry and value-added production areas stand out, natural stone processing, metal technologies and value-added production from food are promoted, among other things.
In Elazığ, livestock investments with at least 1000 cattle, aquaculture production and tourism investments around Lake Hazar, as well as value-added production projects from grapes will be supported.
Investments in hospital projects and mining areas are supported
In Erzincan, located on the historic Silk Road, alternative tourism investments as well as the production of beverages and building materials are being promoted.
In Erzurum, investments in livestock farming, private hospital projects, leather processing and mining areas are supported.
While in Hakkari, which is known for its steep mountains and rich cultural structure, investments in egg farming, mineral processing and beverage production attract attention, in Iğdır, where the integration of agriculture and industry is sought, investments in food processing, automobile sub-industry and accommodation will be the focus.
In Kars, livestock breeding, accommodation facilities, goose breeding and production projects based on Kavilca wheat, one of the oldest wheat species in the world, are supported.
Tourism and high technology investments attract attention
In Malatya, known for its agricultural production, particularly apricots, large-scale investments in livestock farming as well as the production of medical devices and electronic systems are supported.
While in Muş animal husbandry, tourism and aquaculture are among the areas to be promoted, in Tunceli investments in alternative tourism, beverage production and sheep breeding projects will gain momentum.
In Van, where Türkiye's largest lake is located, tourism projects, production of critical parts for marine vehicles, private hospital investments, geothermal greenhouse cultivation and investments in livestock production will be supported.
The support under the Local Development Move Incentive Program aims to increase the productive capacity of the provinces in Eastern Anatolia, ensure economic diversity and make the region a center of attraction. The program coordinated by the Ministry aims to make the most of the potential of 14 cities in the Eastern Anatolia Region, promote production, create new employment areas and extend the chain of development that begins locally to the entire Türkiye.
