The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry informed about the issue in a post on its NSosyal account.
The post highlighted that a major innovation in safe food processes has been implemented and explained that businesses such as restaurants, cafes and canteens are required to disclose food content and allergen information along with menus.
The post emphasized that it is mandatory to disclose the content and energy (calorie) values of food to consumers in mass consumption places such as restaurants, cafes and dining rooms, noting the following:
“This information can be presented on menus, wall boards, brochures, digital screens, or via QR code. If the information is provided with a QR code, businesses will post in a prominent location: “You can access this information using a QR code. When consumers who cannot use a QR code request it, the information will be displayed to them separately.” Hanging the sign is mandatory. “The aim is to empower consumers to make informed choices, protect them from allergens and facilitate choices consistent with religious, health or personal preferences.”
