A statement on the matter was posted on the Department of Commerce's NSSocial account.
The statement explained that as part of market surveillance and inspection studies, the price movements along the supply chain of red kapia and green green pepper products in a chain market operating in Diyarbakır were examined in detail through the market registration system and the following was found:
“During the investigation, it was found that the red kapia pepper product was purchased for 7 lira by the broker operating in the central villages of Karataş District in Adana Province, the product in question was sold to the chain market by the company operating in Diyarbakır for 30 lira, and the product was offered to the consumer by the relevant chain market for 199.99 lira. The green pepper product was sold by the company operating in Diyarbakır for 20 lira sold to the chain market Diyarbakır and the chain market sold the product to the chain market for 30 lira It was found that the product was offered to the consumer for 249.99 lira.
“As a result of the assessments, the named companies were found to have engaged in an unfair price increase, and the matter was referred to the Unfair Price Assessment Unit of the Ministry of Commerce to implement the necessary administrative sanctions.”

In the inspections carried out in Diyarbakır, it was again reported that the cucumber was purchased for 5.3 lira, sold to the chain market by the broker for 12 lira, and the product was offered to the consumer in the market for 79.90 lira. Green bell pepper was purchased for 130 lira, sold to the chain market for 140 lira, and the product was sold to the consumer for 249.99 lira.
The post stated that the cocktail tomato product in the Altıeylül district of Balıkesir was purchased by the company in question for 148.48 lira and offered to the consumer for 258 lira, and the company was asked to defend itself on suspicion of unfair price increase on a product basis. “In addition, as part of the controls, unfair price increase controls were carried out for two days on 28 different products in the fruit and vegetable departments of a total of 8 markets; businesses that did not have any legal notice were warned and prosecuted. Necessary administrative processes against the businesses were initiated.” Statements were recorded.
It was found that in the inspections carried out in connection with the complaints filed through CİMER at a chain market in Istanbul's Sultanbeyli district, the price movements in the entire supply chain of fruit and vegetable products were examined in detail through the market registration system and reported the following:
“During the investigations comparing the purchase and sale prices of bunch tomatoes, tomatoes, oranges, green peppers, capia peppers, paste peppers, bell peppers, green peppers, village peppers, green beans, parsley, dill, white radish and ginger, it was found that clear findings were made that exorbitant price increases were being applied to the products in question.”
As a result of the assessments, it was concluded that there was an exorbitant price increase in many products offered for sale in the said company, and the matter was referred to the Unfair Price Assessment Unit of the Ministry of Commerce to implement the necessary administrative sanctions.
“Our fight against opportunism and unfair price increases will continue uncompromisingly across the country.”
