The Brussels-based World Steel Association (Worldsteel) has announced crude steel production data for November.
Accordingly, global crude steel production fell by 4.6 percent to 140.1 million tons in November compared to the same month in 2024.
Last month, production in China, the world's largest steel producer, fell 10.9 percent to 69.9 million tons. While Japan's production fell by 1.6 percent to 6.8 million tons, US production rose by 8.5 percent to 6.8 million tons.
While German production fell by 2.6 percent to 2.8 million tons, South Korea's production fell by 4.8 percent to 5 million tons.
In November, crude steel production in Türkiye increased by 10 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 3.3 million tons.
During the period mentioned, steel production in Brazil rose by 0.7 percent to 2.8 million tons and in Iran it is expected to rise by 9.2 percent to 3.4 million tons.
On the other hand, global crude steel production fell by 2 percent to 1 billion 662 million tons in the January-November period this year compared to the same period in 2024. What was notable during the same period was that China's production fell by 4 percent to 891.7 million tons.
The Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced on December 12 that a licensing system to regulate steel exports will be introduced from 2026.
This step by Beijing was seen abroad, especially in Europe, as a reaction to criticism of cheap steel from China and the overcapacity that exists here.
Meanwhile, Türkiye's production increased by 2 percent annually in the January-November period this year, reaching 34.6 million tons.
