Crude steel production in Türkiye increased

The Turkish Steel Producers Association (TÇÜD) announced data on steel production, consumption and foreign trade for April.

Accordingly, Türkiye's crude steel production increased by 9.4 percent to 3.3 million tons in the month in question compared to the same month in 2025. Production rose by 6.3 percent to 13 million tons in the January-April period.

Consumption of finished products increased annually by 12 percent to 3.3 million tons in April and by 9.7 percent to 13.2 million tons in the January-April period.

Foreign trade in steel products

Exports of steel products in April amounted to 1.3 million tons, an increase of 11.3 percent in volume compared to the same month of 2025, and in value they reached $885.5 million, an increase of 9.3 percent.

In the January-April period, exports fell by 3.3 percent in volume to 4.8 million tons per year and in value by 5.5 percent to $3.2 billion.

In April, imports were estimated at 1.6 million tons, up 17.7 percent on a volume basis, and $1.1 billion, up 7.8 percent on a value basis, compared to the same month last year.

In the first four months of the year, imports rose by 6.3 percent in volume to 5.9 million tons compared to the same period last year and in value they rose by 0.9 percent to $4.1 billion.

The export-import coverage ratio, which was 83.4 percent in the January-April period last year, fell to 78.1 percent in the same period this year.
