Canada's military presence in Europe is at its highest level in 30 years

According to a statement from the Canadian Prime Minister's Office, Carney spoke to Rutte on the phone.

It was reported that the duo discussed strengthening defense investments, NATO's defense capacity and continuing support for Ukraine ahead of the NATO summit scheduled to be held in Ankara on July 7 and 8.

It was reported that Prime Minister Carney emphasized that Canada had significantly increased its defense investment and confirmed that his country was on track to meet NATO's 5 percent defense spending target.

It also noted that Carney stated that Canada's “sustained military presence” in Europe had reached its highest level in 30 years and that the parties had agreed to continue close cooperation.
