Electric car manufacturer BYD announced that it would build a production facility in Turkey with a capacity of 150,000 vehicles. In this context, the procurement procedures for the investment site were carried out in Manisa against payment of the price paid by the company and the investment process was started.
Due to the lack of expected investment progress for a long time, the process of claiming incentives for the company was suspended by the Ministry of Industry and Technology in early 2026.
According to the information received from the Ministry of Industry and Technology regarding the process regarding the progress of the company's investments, the investment agreement concluded with the company, the conditions in the investment agreement, the company's obligations and the guarantees it provides to the state remain valid.
All processes will continue to be carried out by the Ministry in accordance with regulatory procedures.
In the event that the investments are not completed, companies are obliged to repay the incentives received within the framework of the relevant legal regulations and the commitments and guarantees they have given.
Ministry officials said that no local or foreign company faces discrimination, the rules apply to everyone and the public's interests are strongly protected in all processes.
