Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Ceyhun Bayramov announced that employees of the embassy in Tehran and the consulate general in Tabriz were evacuated. Bayramov explained that this step was taken to ensure the safety of personnel.
UAV attack on Nakhchivan
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry announced that attacks with UAVs were carried out on the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic from Iranian territory.
One of the UAVs crashed at the international airport in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the other near the school building in the village of Shekerabad. The airport building was damaged and four civilians were injured in the attacks.
The Iranian ambassador to Baku, Mojteba Dermicilu, was summoned to the Foreign Ministry and received a note of protest.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev called the attacks a “terrorist act” and ordered the army to prepare and carry out retaliatory measures.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Erakchi claimed that “they had no connection with the attack, it was committed by Israel to blame his country.”
