According to Uludağ Automotive Industry Exporters Association (OİB), the passenger car group accounted for 28.4 percent of the automotive industry's exports of 9 billion 895 million 175 thousand dollars in the first quarter of the year.
Passenger car exports, which amounted to 3 billion 4 million 39 thousand dollars in January-March 2025, fell by 6.3 percent to 2 billion 814 million 245 thousand dollars in the same period this year.
In the first quarter of the year, Türkiye's passenger cars were shipped to 72 countries, autonomous zones and free zones.
Car exports to France amounted to almost $500 million
The sector exported the most passenger cars to France in the January-March period. Exports to this country fell by 8 percent, from 536 million 862 thousand dollars to 493 million 428 thousand dollars.
Exports to Spain, the second largest export country, rose by 10 percent. In the first quarter of last year, passenger cars worth 392 million 173 thousand dollars were sold to Spain, and in the same period this year there were foreign sales worth 431 million 686 thousand dollars.
Italy managed to maintain its export level compared to the same period last year and took third place with passenger car exports amounting to 339 million 311 thousand dollars.
During this period, passenger car exports to Slovenia, which ranks fourth, increased by 5.9 percent from 223 million 253 thousand dollars to 236 million 372 thousand dollars.
9 of the 10 countries with the highest car exports are EU countries
In the January-March period, industry representatives exported passenger cars worth 224 million 363 thousand dollars to the United Kingdom, which took fifth place, and 211 million 719 thousand dollars to Germany, which took sixth place.
The sector's exports to Poland, which ranks seventh, increased by 3 percent and reached 174 million 848 thousand dollars from 169 million 460 thousand dollars.
In terms of car exports, Belgium ranks eighth with $113 million, 84,000, Greece ranks ninth with $61 million, 118,000 and Portugal ranks tenth with $53 million, 795,000.
Nine of the ten countries with the highest car exports were European Union countries.
In the same months of this year, vehicles worth 14 million 197 thousand dollars were sent to Libya, where there were no passenger car exports in the January-March period last year, and vehicles worth 4 million 677 thousand dollars were sent to Estonia.
