ASELSAN's artificial intelligence-powered security systems are deployed in 81 provinces

To use the system, the application was carried out in Kocaeli, where important transportation and industrial networks are located.

KGYS, which is used by the General Directorate of Security and the General Command of the Gendarmerie to protect public order and prepare for internal security risks, is one of the basic assistants of the security forces in 81 provinces.

The CityGuard urban security management system implemented by ASELSAN performs a remarkable task in city, road, field and coastal security by combining ODAKAN, KAYIN network video analysis and recording systems, KAHİN video analysis systems and GEKO vehicle detection systems under one roof. The system, which is also exported abroad, serves urban security in 81 provinces and 920 districts in Turkey.

Uninterrupted security and deterrence with artificial intelligence

By using high-resolution imaging units, artificial intelligence-powered facial recognition systems and big data analytics, KGYS provides uninterrupted surveillance. Critical features such as human, vehicle and license plate recognition and density analysis enable more effective detection of crime and terrorist incidents, enabling rapid incident response and predictive analysis capabilities.

More than 450,000 ODAKAN clip-on cameras, meeting public and private sector border, field and critical facility security needs, operate at high performance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and in all weather conditions.

More than 150,000 clip-on camera versions of the ODAKAN product family, which increases situational awareness in environmental security thanks to thermal imaging technologies, are actively used by security forces in the field. RoadGuard, a road safety system, ensures that suspicious vehicles are analyzed and stopped if necessary before they reach checkpoints in 44 provinces and 40 districts.

“Kocaeli is a leader in the security vision for a smart city”

Ali Çelik, Chief of the Kocaeli Police Security Management System Central Office, said in his briefing to the press that Kocaeli has a dense transportation network between Europe and Anatolia and is home to many large organized industries and port facilities.

Emphasizing that they are making maximum use of local and national technologies to ensure the peace and security of the city, Çelik explained that in the Kocaeli Police Department they are actively using high-definition imaging cameras developed by ASELSAN, License Plate Recognition System (PTS) cameras for vehicle movement detection and analysis, and mobile PTS cameras, which allow them to focus their inspections on specific areas.

Çelik drew attention to the importance of quickly, coordinated and securely transmitting the received images and alarms to the personnel on site, explaining that at that time they used the encrypted security radio communication system developed by ASELSAN with domestic technology and that the crypto software is constantly updated to ensure uninterrupted confidentiality of communications.

Çelik pointed out that mobile security solutions increase the effectiveness of on-site teams and said:

“Another mobile security solution developed by ASELSAN is our collar cameras, which can work in integration with KGYS, designed for the use of our personnel in the field. In the event of a possible crisis, the images obtained from these collar cameras are transmitted to our centers, allowing the organization and work on site to be updated and coordinated more accurately and quickly. Thanks to the KGYS and license plate recognition system infrastructure developed by ASELSAN, one of the leading organizations of our local and national defense industry, with advanced technology “Our police department has acquired significant capabilities in supporting security, activating preventive police activities and solving judicial incidents. The effectiveness of our teams on the ground has been increased through mobile security solutions instead of fixed systems, creating a more efficient work environment. Even today, Kocaeli remains one of the leading provinces supporting security infrastructure with domestic and national technology, contributing to our country's smart city security vision thanks to its strong technical capacity.”

On the other hand, for the field deployment of the systems, a street inspection application was carried out at Kartepe Police Station by police officers wearing ODAKAN clip-on cameras.
