Uraloğlu made a statement on the November 2025 statistics prepared by the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs.
Uraloğlu emphasized that they remain committed to ensuring that Türkiye receives a larger share in maritime trade and said, “The amount of cargo handled in our ports increased by 7.8 percent in November compared to the same month last year and reached 46 million 413 thousand 154 tons.” he said.
Uraloğlu noted that the amount of containers handled at the ports increased by 1.5 percent last month compared to the same month last year and reached 1 million 144 thousand 131 TEU. In the eleven months of the year it increased by 3.2 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 12 million 822,000 997 TEU.
“International freight traffic increased by 5.5 percent in November compared to the same month last year.”
Uraloğlu pointed out that the amount of cargo entering from ports to foreign ports was 11 million 271 thousand 195 tons in November, and stated that the amount of cargo entering ports from foreign ports was recorded at 22 million 996 thousand 485 tons.
Uraloğlu informed that international cargo transportation increased by 5.5 percent in November compared to the same month last year and reached 34 million 267 thousand 680 tons.
Uraloğlu pointed out that the highest cargo turnover in November on the basis of the regional port authorities was in the port facilities within the administrative limits of Aliağa Regional Port Authority with 7 million 387 thousand 879 tons, and said, “Aliağa Regional Port Authority was followed by Kocaeli Regional Port Authority with 6 million 779 thousand 262 tons and Iskenderun Regional Port Authority with 5 million 505 thousand 421.” tons. he said.
Stating that the transit cargo transportation by sea in ports was 6 million 231 thousand 99 tons in November, Uraloğlu stated that the amount of cargo carried in cabotage was 6 million 364 thousand 457 tons.
“The largest shipment came from Russia”
Uraloğlu stated that based on the types of cargo transported, LNG (liquefied natural gas) increased the most last month with an increase of 892,627 tons compared to the previous month, and 1 million,358,562 tons of LNG were handled in the ports.
Minister Uraloğlu revealed that Portland cement was the most frequently transported cargo from ports abroad by ships in November, with 972,366 tons, and said:
“Followed by the type of cargo in question were the cargo types clinker and feldspar. When it came to the cargo of ships that came to our ports from abroad, unbriquetted hard coal was in first place with 2 million 816 thousand 275 tons. This was followed by the cargo types crude oil and scrap iron. Among the cargo types that were supposed to go abroad by sea, the highest cargo transports were carried out in the transports to Italy. This was followed by the Transports to the USA and Egypt. In addition, transports to the ports by sea “The highest burden was on transport from Russia.”
