The General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) declared a “universal declaration of consumer rights” with a decision that was made on March 15, 1985. This date is celebrated as a “consumer right” day in the world and in Türkiye, while March 15 to 21 March as a “consumer protection week”.

Article 2 of the constitution of the Republic of Türkiye is one of the most important questions of consumer rights in Türkiye because it brings the principle of “social justice”. In addition, Article 172 states that “the state has taken protective and insightful measures by consumers and encourages consumers to protect themselves”.


Who is the consumer?

People who receive goods or services, rent, benefit in different ways are referred to as “consumers”. In an electronic object, the accommodation in the hotel or the food outside the citizens make consumers. Regardless of whether the goods or service purchases or rents, all Turkish citizens who are consumers are protected by the “law of the consumer”.
