9 million disabled passengers rode the train for free

According to the ministry, Uraloğlu attended the 15th Semester Training Seminar for the Disabled and Veterans via video conference.

In his assessment here, Uraloğlu stated that they work with the aim of creating an accessible, inclusive and equal working environment for everyone, and stated that under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, they have taken steps to facilitate the lives of disabled and experienced citizens and ensure their full and equal participation in social and economic life.

Uraloğlu stated that while the number of disabled civil servants in the public sector was about 6,000 in 2002, today it has reached about 83,000 and that about 2,400 disabled people work in the central and regional organizations of his ministry and the affiliated and related organizations.

Pointing out that they are doing important work as a ministry to promote the participation of disabled and disabled citizens in daily life, Uraloğlu said: “In line with our ministry's vision of creating a transportation network that eliminates disparities at every step, our preparatory work for the 2026-2030 Accessible Transportation Strategy and Action Plan will continue intensively. We will submit it to the Presidency for approval in the coming period.” shared his knowledge.

“We supported 87,000 795 passengers”

Uraloğlu stated that they have supported 87,000 795 passengers in 27 High Speed ​​​​Train Stations (YHT) with the Orange Table Accessible Transportation Service Point application so far, noting that they have carried out a comprehensive accessibility transformation in stations and platforms.

In this regard, Uraloğlu stated that the project works have been completed in 130 stations so far and accessibility applications have been put into operation in 119 stations, and continued as follows:

“We have launched our Orange Table service at three airports: Rize-Artvin, Ordu-Giresun and Tokat. 38 of our airports have the title of “Accessible Airport Facility” and 42 of our airports have the “Accessibility Certificate” from the Ministry of Family and Social Services. Our Istanbul Airport has won international awards for accessibility with services such as disabled parking, routing and digital information kiosks.

Since 2017, we have been offering a free rail service to around 9 million disabled passengers. In road transport, 1 million 784 thousand 410 in 2025 and 356 thousand 771 disabled citizens benefited from discounts of up to 40 percent on intercity buses in the first 4 months of this year. “We have also improved accessibility through measures such as tactile surfaces, ramps and button signals at pedestrian crossings.”

Unblocked applications

Uraloğlu stated that they have also developed digital solutions that will facilitate the transportation processes of people with disabilities with the “Mobility for All Mobile Application”.

Stating that they ensure the accessibility of subway and tram lines with elevators, escalators, audio-visual instructions and vehicles specially designed for disabled passengers, Uraloğlu stated that with the “Barrier-Free Seas Project”, they have made ramp entrances, elevators and disabled-accessible toilets mandatory on passenger ships.

Uraloğlu reminded that they implemented the “Accessible Call Center” on the e-government gateway, which provides sign language support:

“From our e-government communication center, we have provided services to 54,246 hearing-impaired citizens, 43,000,871 via the Internet and 10,000,375 via mobile devices. Our disabled citizens can also receive their monthly payments at home via PTT. With Turkey Card, we provide new transportation privileges to our disabled and experienced citizens. By focusing on universal accessibility standards, we will continue to build an inclusive future where everyone can fully enjoy their freedom of movement. As a ministry, we will always support our disabled and veteran brothers and sisters.
