The flight simulator, manufactured by HAVELSAN with domestic and national resources and accepted into the inventory of the Air Force Command on November 24, 2006, is available only in two countries in the world, Turkey and South Korea.
The simulator, used by the Standardized Simulator Academic Training Fleet Command, attached to the 11th Main Air Transportation Main Base Command, with more than 40,000 flight hours in training, provides the user with the precise capabilities of the “CN-235.” Type cargo aircraft known as CASA.
The simulator, which gives the feeling of flying in the country's sky thanks to the loaded real 3D map, also reflects the actual maneuvers that the aircraft can perform thanks to the special system installed.
Kemal Yıldırım, Commander of the Standardized Simulator Academic Training Fleet, gave information about the simulation system and explained that they conducted the pilots' pre-flight training using the CN-235 aircraft simulator and made the pilots ready to fly without causing fuel consumption.
Colonel Kemal Yıldırım said: “We both handle emergencies that we cannot handle in the real aircraft and also increase our training level in the real aircraft by carrying out normal procedures in the simulator environment,” said.
Stating that they reduced normal training by 50 percent thanks to the full flight simulator, Yıldırım said, “We have the opportunity to deal with all kinds of unusual situations that may arise in emergency situations. This helps us solve situations that we cannot handle in reality.” Airplanes. In this way, we provide the Air Force with great advantages by increasing our level of training,” gave his assessment.
Stating that a 17-member team works at the Standardized Simulator Academic Training Fleet Command, Colonel Kemal Yıldırım said: “We have 12 hours of flying every day. We spend these 12 hours to the fullest serving 6 fleets within the Turkish Air Force, a total of 11 fleets in total,” he said.
Yıldırım also said that they provided simulation training in eight different countries.
Standardized Simulator Academic Training Fleet Flight and Simulator Instructor Air Pilot Lieutenant Colonel Savaş Güngörmüş said that they are continuing their current combat readiness training in all weather conditions with the CN-235 full flight simulator. Lieutenant Colonel Güngörmüş said: “We are currently conducting all emergency procedure training with this simulator within the 11th Air Transport Main Base Command, which we cannot do with an aircraft,” said.
