21 students won medals and awards at the international science olympiads

Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır made a written statement on the 2202 Science Olympiad program carried out within the framework of TÜBİTAK.

Pointing out the achievements of the students who represented Türkiye in the international Science Olympiads, Kacır said, “The young people trained under the 2202 Science Olympiad Program carried out by TÜBİTAK made Türkiye very proud by returning to the world stage with 1 gold, 7 silver, 6 bronze medals and 7 honorable mention awards.” he said.

Kacır acknowledged the global achievements of young people in the fields of physics, mathematics and computers and shared the following information:

“Our young people continue to make us proud at the international Science Olympiads. Our students won three silver medals and one bronze medal at the 6th European Girls' Computer Olympiad in Cesenatico, Italy, where 218 students from 59 countries took part. Our students won a silver medal, one bronze medal and an honorable mention at the 10th European Physics Olympiad in Gothenburg, Sweden, where 199 students from 41 countries participated took part.” Our students won two bronze medals and six honorable mentions at the 26th Asian Physics Olympiad in Busan, South Korea, where 209 students from 27 countries participated. Our students won 1 gold medal, 3 silver medals and 2 bronze medals at the 30th Young Balkan Mathematics Olympiad, held in Buzau, Romania, in which 133 students from 23 countries took part, which makes our country very proud. I congratulate all of our students who successfully represented Turkey.”

6th European Girls' Olympics

The statement also shared details of the competitions.

At this year's 6th European Girls' Computing Olympiad, held in Cesenatico, Italy from May 12 to 18 and attended by 218 students from 59 countries, students from Türkiye won four medals, three silver medals and one bronze medal.

Elif Başak Keleş, Nehir Karatopcu and Zeynep Cansu Mutlu, students trained under the 2202 Science Olympiad Program implemented by TÜBİTAK, won the silver medal and Aslıhan Buğa won the bronze medal.

10th European Physics Olympiad

At the 10th European Physics Olympiad, held in Gothenburg, Sweden from June 12 to 16 this year and attended by 199 students from 41 countries, Türkiye students achieved a total of 3 degrees, including 1 silver, 1 bronze and 1 honorable mention.

Among the students trained under the 2202 Science Olympiad Program implemented by TÜBİTAK, Şenol Tarhan received a silver medal, Rüzgar Belted received a bronze medal, and Mert Andaç Karan received an honorable mention.

26th Asian Physics Olympiad

Students who represented Türkiye at the 26th Asian Physics Olympiad, held in Busan, South Korea from May 17 to 25 and attended by 209 students from 27 countries, completed the organization with two bronze medals and six honorable mentions.

In the 2202 Science Olympiad program carried out within the framework of TÜBİTAK, Mert Andaç Karan and Rüzgar Kuşaklı, young scientists who were trained to represent Türkiye at the international level, won the bronze medal, while Eren Akarsu, Ömer Akhan, Şenol Tarhan, Yiğit Koca, Kaan Arif Say and Eyüp Efe Şimşek were awarded honorable mention.

30th Young Balkan Mathematics Olympiad

At the Olympic Games held in Buzau, Romania from June 15 to 20 and attended by 133 outstanding students from 23 countries, the students trained under the TÜBİTAK 2202 program of the Science Olympiad returned to Türkiye with 1 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals.

Among the students who successfully represented Türkiye, Timuçin Tunç Bozkan won the gold medal, Ahmet Ekrem Aydın, Mert Gerenli and Çağrı Maraşlı won the silver medal, Ali Yağız Kahraman and Batu Emirhan Arık won the bronze medal.
