According to the information compiled from TÜRKPATENT data, the activities carried out in January and March this year within the framework of the strengthening ecosystem in the industrial property field in Türkiye and in line with the National Technology Move were also reflected in the patent numbers.
In this context, domestic patent applications to TÜRKPATENT increased by 37 percent in the first quarter of 2026 compared to the same period last year from 1464 to 2003.
Domestic utility model applications increased by 46 percent compared to the same period in 2025, reaching 958 out of 658.
During the period mentioned, a total of 47,459 domestic industrial property rights were filed and 37,964 domestic industrial property rights were registered.
Trademark and design registrations
During the period mentioned, 38,000,605 trademark and 8,000,136 design applications were submitted to TURKPATENT.
If we look at the geographical indications registered in Türkiye, Niğde astragal honey, Seydişehir strawberry, Hatay yogurt kebab, Hatay mahulta soup, Hatay tray kebab, Bilecik priest stew, Erzincan sour natural mineral water, Nuzumla carpet, Çorum sweets and Çerkeş flower honey registered.
Hatay Haytalı, Erzincan rice pudding, Palu pan, Ordu mountain strawberry jam, Tekirdağ Ramadan roll, Siirt Pırtike soup, Sivas head, Haymana sausage and stuffed Hatay/Hatay shortbread were registered in February.
Çorum water pastry, Hatay abugannuş, Afyon palize/Afyonkarahisar palize, Hatay haydari, Savaştepe Kalemköy grapes, Gaziantep crispy halva with roasted chickpeas, Kırklareli meatballs and Ahmetbey meatballs received geographical indication registration in March, while “Turkish Coffee” was also eligible for registration as a traditional product name in Turkey.

Looking at the distribution of registered geographical indications by region, the Black Sea region ranks first with 363 registered geographical indications.
The Black Sea region was followed by Central Anatolia with 296 registrations, Southeastern Anatolia with 293, Aegean with 258, Eastern Anatolia with 233, Mediterranean with 204 and Marmara with 195.
Geographically labeled products were registered in Türkiye in 1842.
The number of geo-tagged products registered in the European Union (EU) recently reached 46, including Adana turnip and Kayseri pastrami.
