In Tokyo, the capital of Japan, a suspect sprayed foreign substances into the shopping center with a spray gun, causing panic.

In the incident, 25 people were affected by the smell and 19 people were hospitalized.

It was stated that the substance sprayed near the ATM in the mall during the incident in which police were searching for the suspect could be an irritant found in hot peppers.

Authorities reported that some people reported their throats were sore and itchy.

Following the incident, the road around the shopping center was closed to traffic.
