183,000 consumer dispute cases were resolved through mediation

The statement on World Consumer Rights Day on March 15 from the NSosyal account of the Ministry of Justice noted the importance of protecting consumer rights today, strengthening the conscious consumer culture and raising awareness of the healthy functioning of the market order.

The statement noted that the Ministry of Commerce's audit and regulatory activities in the framework of consumer protection, ensuring market order and combating unfair practices play an important role in protecting consumer rights, and that cooperation between the Ministries of Justice and Commerce is an important complement in protecting consumer rights and effectively resolving disputes.

The statement recalled that the ministry has implemented various regulations in the judicial system to resolve consumer disputes quickly, effectively and peacefully, and has facilitated citizens' access to legal remedies.

In this regard, on July 28, 2020, mandatory arbitration of consumer disputes was made a condition of litigation and citizens had the opportunity to resolve their disputes in a short time thanks to the arbitration mechanism in disputes not falling within the jurisdiction of the consumer arbitration committees, and the following was noted:

“Since the date of implementation, an agreement has been reached in 183,000,127 consumer dispute files, so at least 366,000,254 citizens have resolved their problems through mediation without going to court. Mediation procedures are completed in a short period of time, an average of 10 days, so both citizens find a quick solution and the workload of the judiciary is significantly reduced.

Our Ministry continues to work resolutely to ensure citizens easy access to legal remedies, support rapid and effective resolution of disputes and improve the quality of judicial services. “On this occasion, we congratulate all our citizens on March 15, World Consumer Rights Day, and hope that they will contribute to raising consumer awareness and spreading the culture of rights seeking.”
