The Directorate General for Protection of Natural Wealth conducts projects in different regions to register and protect each of the caves that are protected under a different status in Türkiye and are not yet protected and whose characteristics and beauties are not very unknown.
In the detailed studies carried out in the past 15 years, the geological and ecological features of 180 caves were examined using scientific methods. The studies have received a lot of important information from the educational processes from caves to underground water resources, from biological diversity to the effects of climate change.
As part of scientific data and detailed cards, Tulumaş in Ankara, Kastamonu, Eşekçukuru, Konya, the crime in Konya and the caves of Bozoba in Diyarbakir 154 caves were registered as natural assets.
Conservation zones were created for a few caves for both the safe visit and protection of the ecosystems.

In the meantime, scientists also came across many living species in the studies carried out in caves.
As part of the research, 20 different types of bats, 4 rodents and 6 carpets were identified. In particular, it was found that all 20 identified bat species were under protection as part of the guideline of the habitats and the Bern convention.
10 of these species, global natural and natural resource protection association (IUCN) is considered protected by the species that have been recorded.
