President of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) Prof. DR. Hasan Mandal said that having a say in space means having a say in many areas.
Mandal stated that Turkish space studies began in the 1980s but there were gaps in between, and explained that they worked day and night to fill the gaps that arose during those periods.
“6A is a local and national satellite from design to production”
Stating that Turkey's first local and national communications satellite, Türksat 6A, was produced with the work of nearly 400 Turkish engineers and researchers in nine years, Mandal said, “There were satellites that Turkey sent in terms of communications, but these satellites were realized by It's ours, but the cost is, We bought it by paying for it, and 6A is a local and national satellite, from design to production.”

Mandal pointed out that Türksat 6A will be launched on July 8 and will cover more than 50 percent of the world's population, and said:
“Our previous satellites enable communication with the geography we are in. With 6A, Turkey's communication with a population of 5 billion people, including Indonesia, Malaysia and India, will be ensured. Turkey's communication will be carried out with the satellite developed by our own engineers. We do not rely on others. We will send İMECE to 36,000 kilometers, that is, 384,000 kilometers from the Moon, and we will conduct experimental studies there. “This is not the ministry's job. Without the supreme will, that is, the leadership of our president, these things would not have happened and after we land on the Moon with our own spacecraft, we will work to go into space, that is, to other celestial bodies.

Mandal stressed that Turkey trusts scientists and young people to achieve their space goals and that they will crown the successes in the defense industry with a say in space.
Stating that Türksat 6A is a satellite for civilian purposes, Mandal said, “In an environment where we are talking about 5G and 6G and where home appliances and cars are smart, the importance of communication satellites is becoming more and more important. Turkey now has satellites developed with this. 'Turkey Century' is never a slogan. Turkey Century will become a reality with Türksat 6A and Turkey's successes in other fields,” he said.
