Since patents only provide protection in the country in which they are acquired, ULAK Communications files separate patent applications for each country. After filing with the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office, international protection is sought by applying for the PCT within 12 months. In this process, patent protection is ensured by moving to national or regional tiers in regions such as North America and Europe.

Kömürcü stated that they have applied for more than 90 national and international patents in the last two years and that they have managed to apply for a total of 17 patents at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT).
