Ruşen Kömürcü, General Manager of ULAK Communications Inc., said that with this move, ULAK Communications, which acts with the aim of turning Türkiye from a technology consumer into a producer, has clearly shown its will to increase its international competitiveness and have a say in the formation of 6G standards.
In this regard, Kömürcü emphasized that the company is working to advance the country's patent area in the field of 6G, explaining that ULAK Communications has submitted separate patent applications for each country because patents are only valid in the country where they are registered.
Kömürcü provided the following information about the company's previous patent work in the area of 6G:
“As Türkiye's leading company in the field of domestic and national communication technologies, we have achieved significant success by registering 208 patents so far, focusing on 6G technologies that are strategic for next-generation communication infrastructures. 85 patents have been registered by our company at the international level under the Patent Cooperation Agreement, 9 of which are in the US and 114 at the national level. So far, our 57 patent applications have been registered, 3 Patents from the US Patent and Trademark Office and 54 patents from the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office, he said.
“The portfolio of 208 applications symbolizes Türkiye’s determination in the global race”
Pointing out that 6G is not only a higher data rate but also a paradigm shift that will transform all walks of life with artificial intelligence-powered networks, ultra-low latency and real-time connection of billions of devices, Kömürcü said that as ULAK Communications, they are accelerating their patent studies for 6G technologies with the vision of being at the center of this transformation.
Kömürcü explained that this portfolio of 208 applications symbolizes Türkiye's determination to be not only a spectator but also an active player and direction giver in this global race.
Emphasizing that patent studies are not just about numbers, Kömürcü said that these applications are competitive on a global level due to the high level of technology and originality they contain.
Kömürcü pointed out that the technologies they have developed have the potential to be used in many critical areas beyond communications infrastructure, such as autonomous transportation, intelligent production, health, disaster management and defense, and explained that all this success is the result of the strategic approach of their intellectual property expert teams and the innovative vision that they advance with their inventive core team consisting of Turkish engineers and academic professors.
Kömürcü explained that the patents developed by ULAK Communication are not only a technical success but also a concrete step towards Türkiye's goal of becoming a technology exporting country.
“These developed high-tech solutions strengthen Türkiye's potential to have a say in the international 6G standards that will be shaped in the future. These steps we are taking with our domestic engineering power not only have a direct impact on the communications infrastructure of the future, but also on Türkiye's digital independence and high-value-added technology production. In line with this vision, we as ULAK will continue to work resolutely for a Türkiye that is at the forefront of technology.”
