Türksat 6A will expand Turkey’s area of activity

Ertok conducted the evaluation in Cape Canaveral, where he was scheduled to attend the launch ceremony of the Türksat 6A satellite.

Ertok stressed that it was a matter of great pride for them to launch Türksat 6A into space and said that the project was launched at the end of 2014 under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Ertok explained that the Türksat 6A project, which lasted about 10 years, was a very important work on which many engineers and technicians worked.

“Türkiye will become a country that produces satellites for other countries”

Ertok emphasized that Türksat 6A is one of Turkey’s largest R&D and technology projects that will provide a significant breakthrough for the country, and said:

“It is an important step to be able to build and design a satellite of this magnitude, then to produce it, test it and successfully ship and operate it. From now on, our country will be a country that not only produces, manufactures and sells its own satellites, but also ships satellites to the region and to other countries.”

Ertok stated that they attach great importance to Türksat 6A in terms of technological development and that the addition of the satellite to the fleet will mean a significant capacity increase for Turkey in terms of service.

Pointing out that with Türksat 6A, the company's coverage area will be expanded to India, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia, Ertok said, “Türksat 6A will further expand the area of operation of our company. With this, we will see that the effectiveness of our country grows even more.” gave his assessment.

Türksat 6A will join the Türksat fleet towards the end of the year

Ertok explained that receiving the first signal after the satellite's launch is one of the most important steps, saying, “We can see that the satellite is working now. It is very important that it sends a signal to the ground station.” In the next step, you will see that there is a connection between you and the satellite. You can send commands. Then maneuver commands will be sent, he said.

Ertok stated that the satellite was left in an orbit of about 1,000 kilometers and that it was expected to rise to a circular orbit of 36,000 kilometers, saying that the thruster would be started and the satellite would be put into orbit with maneuvers to be carried out at different intervals in a period of about 10 days.

Ertok stated that the Türksat 6A satellite will initially be placed into the 50 degrees East orbit, where it will be tested for about three months and will be in operation for a certain period.

Ertok said the satellite would later be placed into the 42 degrees East orbit and said:

“After we do some final tests at 42 degrees, I estimate that we will add Türksat 6A to the Türksat fleet at the end of the year, in December. It is currently under the control of TÜBİTAK UZAY, they will do all the maneuvers, but after it is handed over to us, it will be in the Türksat fleet and under the control of our engineers,” said.

Ertok stated that the maneuver life of the satellite is about 16 years and its useful life is about 15 years, adding that they expect Türksat 6A to serve the country successfully and smoothly in this process.
