According to the report, electronic circuits, which are referred to as chips or semiconductors, are one of the most important and strategic sectors in the world. Countries and companies that want to progress in the technological race make considerable investments in this area.
In recent years, the defense industry, artificial intelligence, augmented reality, the Internet of objects and robot technologies such as intensive process form such as the fast developments in the industry and the fast publication of related products increases chip demand.
It has settled in the center of global digital economy by leading progress in semiconductor technologies and chip production, telecommunications, information, health, defense and automotive industry.
In Torkiye, it has started to award more shares in these areas with its research and development activities on high tech.
The use of chips increases with the spread of electric cars
In particular, developments in the defense industry, domestic electric car production, 4.5g and then 5G components for mobile phone networks such as domestic and national production, automotive production, such as increasing the use of chip use, show the importance of chip production in Türkiye.
The automotive industry is one of the most important production and exported parts of the country. In addition to the production of combustion cars, trucks and buses, it is expected that investments in the domestic and national electric car brand and foreign electrical automotive companies in the automotive field and the export capacity in the automotive sector will increase.
There are already around 1500 to 3,000 chips in a car and this number will increase in the following years with the spread of electric cars.
The fact that a significant part of the needs of the automotive sector, which can be created about 1.5 million units with the data from 2023 and can be even better with new investments, can be observed with domestic and national resources and is an important incentive for the chip sector.
Medium and long-term plans are important
Geographically, it is on and near the trade streets, but it is very close to many of the actual wars in the world, which is very close to the Torkiye defense industry to provide the chips that are required for the sectors of automotive and entertainment electronics.
For this reason, it is assumed that Torkiye should create plans for chip design and production in the medium and long term in such a way that it can take a meaningful share from the global market and then from the global market.
Under the roof of Tubitak Information and Information Security Advanced Technologies Research Center (Bigelgem), it emphasizes how important it is to establish secure chip design and production infrastructures for national platforms with F&E and product-oriented work.
In view of the risks in the production of progressive technology chips abroad, it is determined that such studies are strategically important.
National chip designs should be produced safely
In order to reduce risks, it is important to establish related production systems and ensure that national chip designs are safely produced in the country.
It is emphasized that the existing partnerships and associations of universities can progress with the research laboratories, military or civilian companies through the strict implementation of defined steps and measures in the plans and programs within the framework of the 12th development plan and the incentive mechanisms in other countries.
In view of the fact that the chip design and the production process require a highly qualified employment of scientists and engineers, it is appropriate to involve problems such as supporting employees on these topics and the preparation of the appropriate environment for the work of educated experts for working in the country.
