Bayraktar, Süleyman Demirel University, Isparta University of Applied Sciences and Türkiye Technology Team in Isparta, Prof. Dr. He spoke at the lecture titled “National Technology Move” organized at the Lütfü Çakmakçı Conference Hall.
Bayraktar described Baykar and the “National Technology Move” adventure they conducted with the Turkish Technology Team Foundation, and discussed the health volunteer and social activities the Life Health Foundation and the mission the Culture and Civilization Foundation had just taken established.
Bayraktar told participants how the company grew step by step, its story and adventure, saying: “Bayraktar TB2 made its first flight in 2014 and is currently in operation in 35 countries. It is the UAV that is exported to most countries in the world.” It was armed with ammunition from ROKETSAN from 2015. “It was the first SİHA in our country. The adventure started with 6 kilos, the 6 tonne AKINCI flew in 2019,” he said.
Bayraktar stated that AKINCI has been exported to more than 10 countries and that they flew Kızılelma a month before 2023, which was their dream since the first day of the adventure.
“Red Apple opened the doors to a new world in dogfighting”
Emphasizing that the adventure with Kızılelma is not over and that they have their sights set on space, Bayraktar said:
“There are flights that will go down in the history of world aviation. The close formation flight of two unmanned combat aircraft was the first in the history of world aviation. In a sense, we have designed the battle of the future from today. Likewise.” Our ancestors melted the mountain in Ergenekon, opened the doors of the new world and entered this world. In the same way, these flights in a way opened the doors to a new world in air combat, and of course these flights and this technology also explained how long one had to travel on foot. It’s happening.”
Bayraktar stated that the production version of Kızılelma will fly in 2024 and that mass production, testing and launch processes will continue.
Pointing out that another first took place recently, Bayraktar said: “For the first time in the world, Bayraktar TB3 managed to land and take off a UAV from ships with a short runway. In fact, three countries competed in this regard: the USA, Turkey and Israel were the first to take off and land automatically from ships with a short runway. he said.
“Baykar generates more than 90 percent of its revenue from exports”
Selçuk Bayraktar emphasized that its work on developing advanced technology has been ongoing for 20 years and continues as follows:
“Baykar is the world's largest unmanned aircraft manufacturer, the world's largest unmanned aircraft company, and over the past three years has been about three times the size of its closest competitor, its American rival. It sources more than 90 percent of all its products.” Income from exports is already an example of this worldwide.” “If you look at companies that develop high technology, it is very difficult to find anything similar.” Example.”
Stating that they will continue to work on the areas that will build the country's fully independent and prosperous future, Bayraktar said that young people will raise this bar even higher with perseverance, determination, clear principles and tireless work.
“Our country is now, to a certain extent, the world leader in the field of unmanned aircraft. 65 percent of the global UAV market belongs to Türkiye. “Imagine, 60 percent belongs to Baykar.” Bayraktar said, pointing out that 20 years ago the country was 89 percent dependent on foreign countries in this area.
Bayraktar emphasized that the localization rate in the defense industry has exceeded 80 percent and mentioned that they have established the “Fergani” space initiative with their own resources.
Bayraktar explained that the first satellite will be launched next month, noting that they will not follow anyone and will try to be different from everyone else.
Bayraktar explained that they aimed to build a global positioning system and had begun work on launch vehicles that would allow independent flight into space.
“We are trying to build a large language model that thinks with its own values.”
Bayraktar stated that as part of the project called “T3 AI”, which has been carried out for about a year in collaboration with the Turkish Technology Team Foundation and Baykar, they are trying to build a large language model that can speak Turkish in the best way and thinks with his own values and said: “Currently, the language models in the world have unlimited resources and processors,” he said.
Bayraktar pointed out that the language model they are working on is different from the current examples in the world: “We are trying to build a machine that works with human natural thinking and uses the logic of thinking. That's what we do. “I'm trying to develop a language model that sort of works with the semantics and logic of thought,” he said.
“TEKNOFEST was received with great enthusiasm by the Turkish nation”
Bayraktar emphasized that they have been holding TEKNOFEST since 2018 with the dream of a fully independent, prosperous and strong Türkiye, pointing out that the greatest winds of transformation come from high technology.
Stating that high technology should be developed at the highest level to strengthen the values of justice, goodness and freedom of civilizations, Bayraktar stated that the TEKNOFEST organized in this context was received with great enthusiasm by the Turkish nation.
Recalling that the last TEKNOFEST was held in Adana, Bayraktar stated that it hosted more than 1 million visitors and 1 million 650 thousand students applied for the competition in 50 different fields.
Emphasizing that TEKNOFEST is an event that transcends borders and includes everyone between the ages of 7 and 70, Bayraktar invited all students and their families to the festival, which is scheduled to take place in Northern Cyprus and Istanbul next year.
Selçuk Bayraktar, who answered students' questions after his speech, was awarded an honorary doctorate by Süleyman Demirel University.
