TÜBİTAK Sky Observation Event will be held in Uludağ on August 9-11

Minister Kacır reported on the TÜBİTAK sky observation event on his social media account.

He titled his post: “Our eyes are on the sky again!” At the beginning of the statement, Kacır explained that the TÜBİTAK Sky Observation Event continues to bring science and society together in its 26th year.

Stating that the giant event, which will bring together thousands of sky enthusiasts of all ages, will be held in Bursa Uludağ on August 9-11, Kacır said, “We invite science and discovery lovers from all over Turkey who are dedicated to the sky to be part of this exciting meeting,” he gave his assessment.

Applications for the event have begun

The ministry's written statement on the matter states that applications have started for TÜBİTAK's sky observation event, which brings together sky enthusiasts of all ages.

In the statement that applications will continue until July 25, the following statements were used:

“The sky observation event, which was first organized by Bilim Teknik Magazine in Antalya Saklıkent in 1998, will be held again this year under the coordination of TÜBİTAK with the contributions of the Ministry of Industry and Technology. Astronomy enthusiasts will have the opportunity to explore the sky among thousands of applicants in the event.

Workshops will take place during the event

The statement pointed out that astronomy enthusiasts show keen interest in the event every year, which is held with the vision of the National Space Programme to increase interest in space among young people, and noted that seminars, competitions and many astronomy-related activities will be organised during the event, open to all age groups.

The statement pointed out that various activities such as various workshops, telescope observations and experiments will be held in the open area day and night, and noted the following:

“Participants can participate in these events with the equipment they bring such as cameras, telescopes, camcorders and laptops. At night, participants can observe the sky under the sky where thousands of stars can be seen with the naked eye, accompanied by experienced astronomers and professional telescopes, and learn about stars, galaxies and nebulae. During the event, participants will be given interesting lectures on various topics such as exoplanets, satellite technologies, lunar missions and rocket studies, asteroid flybys near Earth and stellar occultations.
