According to Kazakh media based on the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), the US has lifted sanctions against the Caspian Pipeline Consortium, whose transactions were previously blocked, as well as Tengiz and Karachiganak, Kazakhstan's largest oil fields.
The new license issued by OFAC allows only transactions related to CPC, Tengiz and Karaçıganak to be permitted from now on.
At the same time, this license allows companies such as Russian companies Lukoil and Rosneft, which are on the US sanctions list, to carry out transactions only for the Karaçıganak and Tengiz oil fields and CPC projects.
The CPC line is known as the main oil line, allowing oil produced from Kazakhstan's oil fields such as Tengiz and Karachyganak to reach world markets through the port of Novorossiysk on Russia's Black Sea coast.
However, the sanctions against Russia's oil exports due to the Russia-Ukraine war, as well as the suspension of activities on the CPC line for various reasons, led Kazakhstan to new routes and agreements on the export route.
