Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu said Turkey had become able to export satellites instead of importing them.
Uraloğlu pointed out that the country has started producing its own domestic observation and communication satellites with the first domestic and national observation satellite İMECE, cube satellites and close orbit constellations.
“We have increased the number of active communications satellites in space to 5”
Stating that the satellite studies that started in the country in the 1990s have evolved and advanced over the years, Uraloğlu said, “As a ministry, we have accelerated our work to have a say in space. We have increased the number of active communication satellites in space to 5. Now, with our first domestic and national communication satellite, Türksat 6A, space and satellite technologies “we are making a revolution in this field on behalf of our country. Turkey's satellite broadcasting adventure, which started with Türksat 1B sent into space 30 years ago, will reach its climax with Türksat 6A,” he said.
Uraloğlu pointed out that the most recently launched satellites, Türksat 5A and 5B, provide services on a global basis.
“External dependence in the satellite and space sector will decrease”
Uraloğlu pointed out that Turkey had developed the first domestic communications satellite platform with Türksat 6A and said:
“Especially with the production of critical components with domestic resources and a high localization rate, foreign dependence in the satellite and space sector will decrease. When you consider that a communications satellite is worth 200-250 million dollars, you can better understand how important this project is.” Because with this satellite, our country will become one of the few countries that can produce it, and with the experience we have gained here, a new era will begin for Turkey. The Türksat 6A satellite is a research and development project important enough to shape Turkey's future. Türksat 6A will represent Turkey and the Turkish flag in space.
Uraloğlu recalled that the system design as well as the production and testing of Türksat 6A's software components were carried out by Turkish engineers at the Space Systems Integration and Test Center in Ankara.
“Satellite Development The activities will continue”
Expressing that satellite development activities will continue in the future with the competencies gained through the project, Uraloğlu said, “It is important to commercialize the research, development and production capabilities achieved so far in the field of satellite technologies. We will continue to increase our experience in the satellite field.” “With Türksat 6A, we will work in India, Thailand and Malaysia where existing satellites do not work.” “The population reached by the satellites will increase from 3.5 billion to 5 billion in Turkey. Some countries that can produce communication satellites are also among the targets to become a satellite exporter after the Türksat 6A experience.” made his assessment.
Abdulkadir Uraloğlu also stated that Türksat 6A will have an angle of 42 degrees and a distance of 35,786 kilometers at launch.
“We will pursue our rights in space to the end.”
Uraloğlu stated that they expect Türksat 6A to be operational by the end of this year and continued his words as follows:
“Turkey has now set its sights on space, has been building its competence in this field since the 1990s and has become one of the world's leading countries in the satellite field. Our country's experience in the satellite field is crowned with the sending of Türksat 6A into space, and our satellite will open the door to a new era for us, a milestone for our country.” In addition to the technologies we have developed with domestic and national resources in many fields, our domestic and national strategy has also been successful. Our aim as a ministry is now to serve not only satellite services but also friendly and friendly countries with the technology produced in this field. “We want to be a major player in the market and a country where our private sector produces.” We have the necessary infrastructure, engineers and human resources. We have secured our orbit rights in the space home. We will pursue our rights not only in the sea and on land, but also in space.
“Türksat is one of the world’s leading satellite operators”
Uraloğlu stated that Türksat is one of Turkey’s most important companies in the field of satellite transmission and said:
“Our company is one of the world's leading satellite operators. Türksat provides voice, data, Internet, TV and radio transmission services via satellite in a wide geographical area from Europe to Asia and Africa and can offer flexible solutions to meet the needs of customers.” Regions where there is no terrestrial infrastructure, bringing together different languages and cultures with its global solutions in the field of communication, also offers analog and digital television, broadband Internet, fixed telephony, WEB-TV and cloud storage services to its domestic subscribers through its cable infrastructure.
Stating that Türksat, which closely follows the scientific and technological developments in the field of satellite communication services, is at the forefront of the studies in this field, Uraloğlu said, “With the studies it conducts in the field of satellite and space technologies, Türksat aims to reduce its foreign dependence, increase the opportunities and capabilities it has, and increase the efficiency of the country's resources.” “The aim is to increase Turkey's self-sufficiency in high technology by contributing to coordination in a way that will ensure that knowledge can be translated into production and added value, especially in satellite and space research,” he concluded.
