The number of TEKNOFEST participants exceeded 1.5 million

TEKNOFEST, which is shaping Turkey's technological future and hosted around 20,000 participants when it was founded in 2018, has today managed to reach more than 1.5 million young people.

Thanks to the event, young people who develop new projects related to technology and science and improve their entrepreneurial skills also improve their innovation, creativity and engineering skills, improving Turkey's technological future.

TEKNOFEST General Secretary Muhammet Saymaz, who celebrated the “16th International MEB Robot Competition” organized under the coordination of the Ministry of National Education in Erzurum gave a review on TEKNOFEST.

TEKNOFEST is planned in Cyprus and Istanbul

Stating that TEKNOFEST 2024 was held in Adana after the competitions in 11 cities, Saymaz said: “This year we broke the record in terms of participant applications. While the number of participants who applied in our first year (2018) was 20,000, now there are more than 1 million 650,000 candidates have applied. There is a huge development, Turkish: “When you pave the way for your country and its youth and create space for them, we can clearly see how successful and caring you are,” he said.

Stating that they plan to organize TEKNOFEST in all cities of Turkey, Saymaz reminded that they will expand the event to an international level and travel to Azerbaijan in 2022.

Saymaz explained that they are planning TEKNOFEST in Cyprus and Istanbul next year:

“Society's view of science, aviation and space travel has changed enormously. In the past there was a distance to technology that we have broken through. For example, even if you did something new and simple in your home or made a difference, there was the concept of “inventing something.” That was a psychological barrier.” We removed that. Now we have come to “invent ourselves, do more successful things, turn to science and technology.” We want to turn yesterday's competitors, today's entrepreneurs into tomorrow's investors, we have left behind the imitative logic that says: “Don't you do it, young people, we are ready.” “If we do it , we can do better,” based on the logic of “Use what you’re ready for.”

“There is a quantitative increase, but also a huge qualitative increase.”

Pointing out that interest in the field of aviation is increasing day by day, Saymaz stated that there is a generation that wants to complete the unfinished stories of Vecihi Hürkuş and Nuri Demirağ.

Saymaz emphasized that they see that the quality of the competitions has increased, saying:

“We have two areas in the missile competition, one is the assembly area and the other is the launch area. Transition rates from the assembly area to the firing area have increased from 30 percent to 85 percent this year. We have a combat competition where at most 4-5 UAVs try to carry out their tasks in the sky. This year, the only team that completed the tasks received an award and geometric growth, but also a huge increase and quality in 7 years “We believe and are convinced that in 5 years we will experience a huge positive explosion.”

Saymaz pointed out that TEKNOFEST CEO Selçuk Bayraktar always aimed to “create a groundswell” and continued as follows:

“In fact, we want science, technology, aviation and space to be at the center of society's culture, we see our future here. Let our young people be interested in these things, let them be relevant and we will create space for them.” Let us be the best at these things, because what is happening in Palestine and the oppressed regions would never be like that. We say that we should be strong and fair, but we would never have an aggressive attitude because the codes that our civilization has imposed on us do not allow it. We want science and technology to be geared toward deterrence, but we may not use it. As the oppressor fires his missiles at the oppressed, I wonder. What will Türkiye say?' “If we could get them to say that, that would be the most valuable thing to us.”

Barış Küçük, one of the members of the team that participated in TEKONOFEST with a group of 10 people and received the award for the best presentation in the “Digital Technology in Industry” competition, stated that they have improved thanks to the festival.

Explaining that they plan to participate in the next competitions, Küçük said: “We are thinking about making progress by increasing our success. Because we believe that our country needs high technology. This is necessary to reach the level of today's civilizations. Our goal is to help our country reach the high level of technology. These competitions are very valuable for us,” he said.
