The number of science centers in Turkey will increase to 40

Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır said that they continue to increase the number of science centers they open to raise awareness of science and technology in society.

Drawing attention to the importance of these centers, Kacır said: “We will open two more science centers in Istanbul and one in Çorum, Şanlıurfa and Adana by the end of the year. This will bring a total of 22 provinces together with science.” The number of science centers in our country will increase to 40. Industry “As the Ministry of Technology and Technology, we will continue to popularize the culture of science and technology in society, connect our people with science, and guide our youth,” and help children make discoveries by raising awareness of this area ” he said.

Emphasizing that they make science and technology understandable and accessible by bringing together people of different ages with scientific activities in science centers, Kacır said that they aim to promote future scientists by raising awareness through experimental and applied activities.

Kacır explained that science centers bring together millions of visitors with interactive exhibitions on many topics, from basic sciences to the universe, from aerospace technologies to artificial intelligence, and provide the opportunity to explore scientific phenomena with workshop training in the fields of mathematics, Aerospace, science, design and technology. In addition, Kacır pointed out that numerous activities would be carried out in the centers, from science shows to lectures, from special daily events to planetarium films, and explained that visitors would get to know the fascinating world of science and technology.

The number of science centers in Istanbul will increase to 12

Under the coordination of the Ministry and with the work of TÜBİTAK, 35 science centers, including 14 large ones, have been put into operation so far. Two of the five newly opened centers will serve citizens in Istanbul. Thus, the number of science centers in Istanbul will increase to 12 with the openings in Başakşehir and Arnavutköy.

Currently, these centers in Üsküdar, Bahçelievler, Beyoğlu, Çekmeköy, Fatih, Gaziosmanpaşa, Güngören, Sultanbeyli, Tuzla and Zeytinburnu continue their activities as places frequented by science enthusiasts.

In addition, science centers in Adana's Yüreğir district as well as in Çorum and Şanlıurfa will start operating by the end of the year. Şanlıurfa Science Center is preparing to host millions of visitors with its 2,250 square meter exhibition space and 6 workshops.

14 of the science centers are large

With the support of TÜBİTAK, 21 small and 14 large science centers have been put into operation so far. In the process that started with the Konya Science Center, a total of 14 million 481 thousand 835 visitors have been received so far. Last year, Konya Science Center was the most visited place with 865,55 visitors. Bursa GUHEM followed with 407 thousand 11 visitors.

Small science centers open for service are “Bahçelievler Şule Yüksel Şenler Library and Science Center”, Bilim Beyoğlu, Bilim Çekmeköy, Bilim Fatih, Bilim Erzurum, Bilim Gaziosmanpaşa, Bilim Güngören, Bilim Pursaklar, Bilim Samsun, Bilim Şahinbey, Bilim Sheikhkamil, Bilim Sincan, Bilim Sultanbeyli, Bilim Uşak, Bilim Vezirköprü, Bilim Yunusemre, Bilim Zeytinburnu, Canik Özdemir Bayraktar Discovery Campus, Karabük Science Center, Mamak Science Center, Tuzla Science Center.
