The center, opened a year ago by Harikatech, a company that designs and manufactures high-tech cameras, has made a significant contribution to domestic camera production.
Nearly 6,000 cameras are produced weekly at Büyüktech Camera Technologies' production center, which also carries out production-based research and development activities. Büyüktech, whose production increased by 95 percent with the center, employs around 100 people at its locations in Ankara and Gebze.
Working on “technologies that enable vehicles to perceive the world like humans”, all processes at Harikatech's production center are carried out in accordance with international automotive standards and each camera undergoes extensive calibration and control processes before leaving the production facility.
The company, which has an annual production capacity of 800,000 cameras, aims to increase its production capacity to over 3 million by 2026.
Domestic producers opened the doors to the world market
Ömer Orkun Düztaş, founding partner and senior manager of Büyüktech, said that they have made a significant leap in production since the center opened.
Stating that they continue to work towards the “Vision Zero” goal, which represents the vision of zero accidents, zero injuries and zero deaths in road traffic, Düztaş said:
“With the new investment and production center we built, our production increased by 95.24 percent. Thanks to our technology collaborations, we have made progress by working with automobile manufacturers around the world. The business relationships we have with companies such as Togg, Ford Otosan, Tofaş and Hidromek contributed to the acceptance of our products in the global market. The increase in our production continues. “We continue our investments internationally and our efforts to be in new target markets, particularly in the US and Europe.”
Alparslan Işıklı, Founding Partner and Chief Operating Officer of Büyüktech, said: “We have seen in this process that building a production facility is not just about machines and infrastructure; It is equally important to be part of the ecosystem, to understand the technology and to constantly improve it.” In the short time after the production center was founded, both production and “We have increased our capacities and continuously improved our efficiency. As Harikatech, we focus on larger projects with a strong team spirit and common goals,” he said.
Success brought new investments
Büyüktech, which manufactured Turkey's first smart camera in the industrial sector in 2013, began camera development in 2016 as a technology provider to companies in the defense industry and consumer products. Harikatech focused on the automotive industry in 2020 and produced its 200,000th camera with the commissioning of its new production center in 2023.
Büyüktech, which developed Turkey's first domestic and national smart camera, received an investment of 2.5 million euros in 2021. Büyüktech, which completed its new investment round in August 2023 with an investment of 4 million 230 thousand dollars and a post-investment valuation of 28 million 230 thousand dollars, is expected to receive new investments until 2025.
