In the statement on X's official account, it was announced that there will be changes to the user blocking feature.
Under the change, people who are blocked by a user whose profile is not private will see that user's posts but will not be able to interact, e.g. B. like or comment on the posts.
“The blocking feature can be used by users to share harmful or private information about people they have blocked,” the statement said, adding that this innovation would increase “transparency” on the platform.
Users who were worried about who might see their posts were advised to “hide” their accounts.
American billionaire Elon Musk, who bought the platform in 2022, is known to have since criticized the “blocking” feature.
The change may violate the App Store and Google Play Terms
The news in the media emphasized that any change to X could result in a violation of the App Store and Google Play terms and conditions.
One of the terms and conditions of these platforms is that social media apps must offer users the ability to filter out “harassment or bullying.” However, these platforms have not yet commented on the issue.
A similar practice was tried in 2013 on Twitter, whose name was changed to X, allowing blocked users to see and interact with others' posts. This application was removed within a few hours due to criticism.
