The competition organized by ROKETSAN stands out as a powerful technology platform where young people turn their dreams into concrete projects, ranging in scope from high school to advanced engineering studies. The TEKNOFEST rocket competition, which aims to train qualified workers in Turkey's aerospace and defense industry, invites young people to a major exciting program based on science and technology in 2026. The competition, which aims to increase students' interest in space technologies and improve their technical skills in this area, attracts great interest this year, as every year.
Young people who have the opportunity to produce and fly self-designed rockets successfully master complex design, production and integration processes by combining the scientific and technical knowledge they have acquired from different disciplines. The competition, which emphasizes interdisciplinary thinking skills, offers participants important gains not only in technical knowledge, but also in teamwork, project management and problem solving. The exchange of experiences between the teams that have successfully completed their flights makes the competition a powerful learning and inspiration platform.
Great competition in 11 categories
The TEKNOFEST Rocket Competition will be held in 2026 in a total of 11 different categories, including A and B groups. The high school category, which is part of Group A, takes place at an altitude of at least 4,000 feet and is open to participation by high school students only. The Mid-Altitude category takes place at a minimum elevation of 8,000 feet and is intended for high school, associate, bachelor's and master's degree students and graduates.
The High Altitude category will be held at an altitude of 15,000 feet, the International category will be held at an altitude of 8,000 feet and the Challenging Duty category will be held in two stages at an altitude of 12,000 feet. While young people can present their innovative engine designs in the “Original Hybrid Fuel Engine Rocket” and “Original Liquid Fuel Engine Rocket” categories, associate, bachelor's and master's students as well as graduates can also apply in these categories and have their rockets fly.
The categories “Active Control System Development”, “Hybrid Fuel Rocket Engine Development”, “Liquid Fuel Rocket Engine Development” and “Flight Modeling and Simulation Software Development” in Group B are open to undergraduate, undergraduate, graduate and graduate students who want to develop advanced technical solutions.
Strong support for young people, great rewards
The TEKNOFEST rocket competition, which will also provide transportation and accommodation support to the finalist teams, will award high prizes depending on the category for 2026.
While the winning teams in the “High School” category will be supported with up to 180,000 TL, the awards reach up to 200,000 TL in the “Medium Altitude” category and 220,000 TL in the “High Altitude” category. While the winning teams will win prizes of up to $5,000 in the International category, they can win prizes of up to 350,000 TL in the Challenging Mission category, 350,000 TL in the Original Hybrid Fuel Engine Rocket category, and up to 400,000 TL in the Original Liquid Fuel Engine Rocket category. In the Group B categories, prize money totaling millions awaits young engineers.
The TEKNOFEST Rocket Competition continues to be an important platform that strengthens young people's career goals in science, technology and engineering and shapes Türkiye's future in space and defense technology.
