The autonomous competition at sea begins at Teknofest 2026

TEKNOFEST, which is at the forefront of Türkiye's national technology movement, will once again bring together hundreds of thousands of young people with the passion for science and technology with the festival that will be held in Şanlıurfa in 2026. The Unmanned Marine Vehicle Competition, which is among competitions taking place in many critical areas from aerospace to space, from artificial intelligence to autonomous systems, will witness projects that will shape the future of defense and maritime technologies.

Today, unmanned watercraft; It has reached a level where it can perform tasks such as reconnaissance, patrol, target tracking and attack without human intervention and is increasingly being used in both military and civilian sectors. These systems, whose level of autonomy is increasing day by day, are at the heart of the transformation of maritime technologies. The aim of the competition is to involve young people in the development process of these critical technologies and help them acquire skills in design, analysis, production and software.

You will compete with real mission scenarios

During the competition, unmanned watercraft developed by the teams will perform tasks on routes similar to real operational scenarios. The autonomous navigation ability, obstacle avoidance performance, decision-making mechanisms and target orientation accuracy of the vehicles are evaluated. The participants don’t just focus on the mechanical design; You will also gain practical experience in advanced technology areas such as sensor systems, artificial intelligence-based detection, image processing and control algorithms.

Unmanned Marine Vehicle Competition; It consists of three basic mission scenarios: point tracking, point tracking in an environment full of obstacles and kamikaze deployment. The vehicles are expected to approach the specified mission points completely autonomously, avoid obstacles on the route and use the right decision-making mechanisms to head to the destination. In the Kamikaze operational scenario, a joint operation with an unmanned aerial vehicle involves using the maritime vehicle to establish physical contact with the target captured from the air. In this context, the competition also highlights interdisciplinary system integration.

Total price of 750,000 lira

Associate, bachelor's and master's students studying in Turkey and abroad can participate in the competition as a team. Teams consisting of a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 15 people; You will have the opportunity to experience all the steps of a real engineering project, from the idea phase to prototype production, from software development to field testing.

Important prizes that support the success of young people in the field of technology await the winning teams of the competition. The first team will receive 300,000 TL, the second team will receive 250,000 TL and the third team will receive 200,000 TL. Beyond the financial rewards, the competition opens the door to extensive experience and career opportunities for participants in the defense industry and autonomous systems sector.

The application process is ongoing for all young people who are interested in maritime technologies, want to develop autonomous systems and have the goal of testing their vehicles in real operational scenarios. Teams wishing to take part in the competition must submit their applications by February 20th.
