The volunteer conducted an assessment in Antalya, where he came to the integrated event “Public-BİB'27 (Association of Managers of Public Informatics Centers) BİMY'31 (Managers of Information Technology Centers)” organized by the Turkish Informatics Association (TBD).
The mathematician and scientist Ordinary Prof. Dr. Stating that the “ARF Supercomputer” named after Cahit Arf has a computing capacity of 35,000 laptops, Saygın said that ARF is the 313th best-equipped supercomputer in the world.
Pointing out that the direct liquid-cooled supercomputer ARF cluster, whose investment was made in 2023, consists of about 55,000 cores, the volunteer said: “The resource capacity of the TRUBA system reaches more than 80,000 computing cores. With ARF, we have a wide range of applications from the defense industry to the manufacturing sector, from drug design to disease detection.” “Simulations that researchers in many areas need can be carried out simultaneously,” he said.
Large artificial intelligence models can also be developed
Saygın emphasized that the ARF supercomputer, which will increase Türkiye's global competitiveness, is the most important part of artificial intelligence technologies:
“We commissioned the ARF supercomputer within TÜBİTAK. At the same time, we became a partner of 'MareNostrum', which was founded as part of the EU supercomputer community initiative EURO HPC. We also commissioned this one this year. We have completed our preparations for the call to the private sector to use the ARF supercomputer. Close “We will announce it to the public in due course and our private sector will use these computers in the near future.”
Volunteer added that thanks to ARF, long-term modeling of large systems such as the creation of digital twins, climate change studies, high-precision aerodynamic design and verification studies, and the development of large artificial intelligence models will be possible.
