R&D and design centers develop technology in 58 cities

According to information from the 2025 Activity Report of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, Turkey prioritizes research and development and innovation to monitor the activities of technology development zones (TGB), manage applications for design centers and support innovative activities in the industrial field.

While the industry is strengthened by incentivizing R&D and design centers, companies are also given the opportunity to develop their own technologies.

In this context, 80 new R&D center certificates were issued in Turkey last year, bringing the number of active R&D centers to 1363. Last year, the number of cities with R&D centers rose to 58.

The number of R&D employees supported under the programs reached 3,284.

The number of cities with design centers reached 28

Last year, the ministry issued 24 new design center certificates, increasing the number of operating design centers to 342. During this period, the design centers were spread across 28 cities across the country.

In addition, with the announcement of the eight regions last year, the number of TGBs increased to 113, and with the commissioning of four TGBs, the number of TGBs in operation increased to 95.

The number of companies operating in the technology development zone was determined to be 12,000,408.

The number of startup offices increased to 104

In addition to physical space, mentoring and consulting support for startups, the GO Startup Office application was also launched, which offers diverse services such as developing strategic business models, accessing financial resources, creating marketing strategies and accelerating globalization processes.

With the 7 corporate offices announced, the number of such offices reached 104.

On the other hand, the evaluation processes for the 4th call for proposals for the clustering funding program have been completed.

Support for business plans with competitiveness and innovation activities of 19 cluster associations, consisting of locomotive sectors such as nuclear industry, wind energy, air conditioning, communication technologies, cybersecurity, games, autonomous vehicle technologies, mobility, intelligent transport and mobility, rail transport systems, aviation, shipbuilding, advanced materials, construction and construction materials, biotechnology, food, technologies for healthy living, technical textiles and furniture, has begun.

The program supports a large ecosystem consisting of a total of 95 institutions/organizations, including 729 companies, 23 universities, 25 TDZs, 4 OIZs, 9 research institutions, 10 chambers/stock exchanges, 2 exporter associations, 22 associations, foundations and cooperatives.
