Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif spoke at the military parade in Baku, capital of Azerbaijan, on the 5th anniversary of the victory in the Second Karabakh War.
Sharif, who began his speech by greeting Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, said: “Three brothers whose hearts beat together, Pakistan, Azerbaijan and Türkiye, are here today.” he said.
Sharif said it was a matter of pride to see the Pakistan Armed Forces walking alongside Azerbaijan and Türkiye in the official parade, stressing that it was “a symbol of eternal friendship that grows stronger day by day.”
Sharif stressed that Azerbaijan's victory in Karabakh was a “ray of hope” for all nations of the world fighting for sovereignty, saying: “The world watched with admiration as Azerbaijan's brave forces liberated Karabakh, the land of their ancestors.” he said.
Sharif recalled that Pakistan had stood by Azerbaijan in this process and noted that it would continue to stand by Azerbaijan from now on.
Stresses that Türkiye has become a modern, strategic actor on the world stage
Noting that Pakistan, like Azerbaijan and Turkey, was in favor of peace, Sharif said they would not allow anyone to question their sovereignty and try to undermine their territorial integrity.
Stating that it is “hopeful” to see the displaced Karabakh families returning to their homes, Sharif said: “Mr. President (Recep Tayyip Erdoğan), this also shows your personal determination. It shows that you are committed to the well-being and prosperity of the people living in this region, Azerbaijan and Karabakh.” he said.
Noting that the reconstruction process has begun in the city of Shusha under the leadership of President Erdogan, Sharif noted that the reconstruction of all liberated areas is progressing very successfully.
Şerif said that on the occasion of his presence here he wanted to express his admiration for President Erdoğan and emphasized that thanks to Erdoğan's leadership, Türkiye has become a modern, strategic actor on the world stage.
Türkiye's leadership in the conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan
Sherif stressed that it is necessary to fight not only on the battlefield, but also in building peace and mutual understanding: “Dear (Azerbaijani) President Ilham Aliyev, your leadership in this sense has guided Azerbaijan on this difficult path. It has led Azerbaijan to success in an honorable way.” he said.
Recalling that a ceasefire between Pakistan and India had been achieved thanks to the decisive leadership of US President Donald Trump, Sharif said that order and peace had been established in the region.
Stating that they had experienced events that threatened peace with Afghanistan, Sharif continued:
“In this context, I would like to thank my dear friend, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Thanks to the leadership he showed in establishing peace between Pakistan and Afghanistan, peace has emerged in the region. This shows the strength of the enduring feeling of brotherhood between our countries.”
Stating that the martyrs who gave their lives on the way to Azerbaijan's victory brought Azerbaijan to this day with their own sacrifices, Sharif said: “The courage and determination they showed made it possible to shape the future of this country.” he said.
