KVKK will offer digital literacy seminars for teachers

KVKK, continuing its activities to ensure the protection of personal data, raise awareness of the issue and improve awareness, has launched the Digital Literacy Project for a Safe Future.

With the aim of meeting teachers and school administrators in seminars as part of the project, KVKK will exchange information on issues related to digital literacy and personal data protection.

The seminars to be held in the first phase for deputy principals, guidance counselors and information technology teachers will cover topics related to access and verification of information, digital ethics, digital footprints, data security in school, digital privacy and the Personal Data Protection Act.

As part of the project, KVKK experts will meet regularly with teachers in Ankara, Istanbul, Muğla, Izmir, Manisa, Afyon, Konya, Antalya, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, Mardin, Mersin, Adana, Kahramanmaraş and Hatay. In the future, the seminars will be distributed nationwide.

KVKK President Prof. Dr. Faruk Bilir, in his assessment of the Digital Literacy Project for a Safe Future, said: “Building a safe future in the digital age is possible with individuals who have digital awareness and privacy awareness.” he said.

Bilir stated that the first seminar under the project was held at Ataturk High School in Ankara. In previous projects they were aimed at children and in this project they aimed to expand the circle of consciousness through the contribution of teachers.

Bilir described the Digital Literacy Project for a Safe Future as “an investment in the future” and said: “Our goal is to spread the culture of personal data protection and digital literacy and ensure that our teachers play a leading role in this regard, especially for our school-age children.” he said.
