KVKK warned artificial intelligence users about data protection

KVKK has prepared a study entitled “Chat Robot Information Note (ChatGPT Example)” on artificial intelligence-based chat robots.

In a statement on this topic, KVKK President Prof. Dr. Bilir explained that chat robots with artificial intelligence take the existing human-technology interaction to an advanced level and that intensive data processing activity is carried out in providing this interaction.

Sharing information that would endanger privacy should be avoided.

Bilir stated that the Information Note on Chat Robots (ChatGPT Example) was published to better understand the points at which artificial intelligence chat robots come into contact with personal data.

Bilir said that the information note covers what artificial intelligence chatbots generally do, what personal data is processed by these robots and what should be taken into account when developing chatbot applications, warning: “Individuals should avoid sharing information, that could jeopardize their privacy.”

“It is important to be aware of the risks”

Bilir emphasized that artificial intelligence chatbots are distinguished from other chatbots by their continuous learning and development process, emphasizing that such systems require large amounts of data to work with high performance.

Bilir pointed out that in addition to various data processed in this context, data such as textual content, voice and voice data provided by users can also be processed, pointing out that it is important for both application developers and users have sufficient awareness of the risks related to personal data.

“Artificial intelligence should be used, but individual privacy should be taken into account”

Prof. Dr. Bilir explained that when using artificial intelligence, legal regulations must be observed and the privacy of the individual must be taken into account.

Bilir emphasized that application developers should take data security measures, saying:

“Artificial intelligence should be used to make human life easier, improve business processes and develop innovative solutions to the problems of the modern world. However, when implementing these solutions, individual values such as privacy should not be forgotten. Therefore, the principle of accountability should be considered when developing artificial intelligence-based chat robot applications: “Data security measures should be taken. Of course, artificial intelligence should be used, but individual privacy should be taken into account. Therefore, appropriate legal regulations should be taken into account and a human-oriented approach should be followed in lawful data processing.”

Bilir explained that additional precautions could be taken for children when it comes to chat robots, stressing that it is important to accurately and reliably determine the age of children.

KVKK President Bilir said: “Privacy and security settings should be adjusted to prevent children from having negative experiences, and a safe usage environment should be provided by taking necessary precautions in advance.”
