Defense Industry President Haluk Görgün held a press conference on the 2024 export figures and 2025 targets at the Defense Industry President's Office.
Görgün stated that more than 300 defense industry products will be exported to 180 countries in 2024. Görgün noted that 1,600 out of 3,500 defense industry companies export.
Görgün stated that five of the top ten exporting countries are European countries and that the most exported products are UAVs, UCAVs, smart missiles, military helicopters and weather radar systems. Görgün explained that ASELFLIR-500, the high-performance electro-optical reconnaissance, surveillance and targeting system developed by ASELSAN for fixed-wing and rotary-wing air platforms, including UAVs, helicopters and aircraft, will be exported to 16 countries in 2024.
Görgün stated that they intend to increase the export value, which is at $7 billion, to a double-digit level within two years. Görgün stated that the total value of export contracts signed in 2023 and 2024 is over $20 billion.
“We will deliver in 2028”
Görgün also shared the image of the second prototype of the national fighter aircraft KAAN for the first time.
Görgün announced that a total of 6 KAAN prototypes will be produced. Görgün said: “We will deliver KAAN in 2028. It will be used with a domestic engine in the 2030s.”
As part of the project initiated in accordance with the needs of the Air Force Command, Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. KAAN, the 5th generation fighter aircraft developed by TAI, completed its first flight on February 21, 2024.
