“Drone Shelter” is ready for use – breaking news

Mentor Bilişim, which has been working on the development of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and robotic systems since 2015, continues its path in Teknopark Ankara under the name Airobos Technology.

As a subcontractor to leading companies in the sector, Airobos also invests in autonomous systems, the technology of the future, and works on innovative solutions in various areas such as defense, security, energy and agriculture.

The “Drone Shelter” created as a result of these studies was exhibited for the first time at the IDEF International Defense Industry Fair last year. The operational version of the product, whose capabilities have been further developed over the past period and whose test product is in user testing, will be presented at the SAHA EXPO International Defense, Aerospace Industry Fair (SAHA EXPO 2024), which will be held between 22-26. October with Anadolu Agency Global Communications Partnership.

Drone Shelter was developed as a system that ensures the complete execution of security and surveillance tasks without operator intervention. The aim is to provide a more efficient solution by disabling the operator, especially for drones used for security purposes. While scans conducted by ground security personnel cannot provide sufficient efficiency due to limited viewing angles, aerial surveillance scans much larger areas and enables faster and more effective threat detection. In this way, drones offer a more effective solution than traditional methods in security and surveillance operations.

The Drone Shelter also performs battery replacement autonomously, allowing vehicles to stay in the air longer. This ensures uninterrupted operations, particularly during long-term patrol missions. The system can be controlled from hundreds of kilometers away during beyond-line-of-sight (BVLOS) missions, which offers great advantages in both military and civilian sectors.

The Drone Shelter system, which has been continuously developed since 2021, has developed into a ready-to-use industrial product. The improvements made in this process have made the product more durable, autonomous and useful to meet various demanding operational requirements. The system is equipped with air conditioning that can operate between -20°C and +50°C, ensuring reliable performance in both extremely cold and extremely hot weather conditions. The air conditioning ensures that the drones can continue their critical missions without interruption and prevents extreme weather conditions from affecting the efficiency of the system.

Longer flight, immediate analysis

The drone's operating time has been increased to over 30 minutes, allowing users to carry out longer missions. This increases efficiency, especially when scanning large areas or during long-term surveillance operations. Thanks to its fully autonomous flight capability, the system completes its tasks without any human intervention, reducing the need for manual intervention to almost zero.

Equipped with advanced image processing algorithms, the system instantly analyzes tasks such as human and animal detection, fire detection and damage assessment, and automatically reports possible anomalies to the user. Thanks to its user-friendly interface and advanced reporting tools, it is possible to easily manage and analyze operations. In addition, ensuring consistent battery usage through autonomous management extended battery life and ensured operational continuity.

The system is also equipped with real-time weather monitoring and climate control functions, so that risks that may arise from adverse weather conditions during the flight can be identified in advance and necessary precautions can be taken. This feature allows drones to perform safer and more efficient flights.

Drone Shelter is particularly attracting attention in industries such as energy, construction and security. Thanks to its adaptation to harsh environmental conditions and autonomous flight capabilities, it offers users in these industries a wide range of options. In the military sector, customer negotiations continue and efforts are underway to export the product for the first time.
