According to the Ministry of Industry and Technology, Türkiye is preparing to host IAC, the world's most prestigious space organization, at the Antalya NEST Convention Center from October 5th to 9th.
As a result of the strategic studies carried out under the coordination of the Ministry, hosted by the Turkish Space Agency (TUA) and co-hosted by SAHA Istanbul, Turkey achieved a success that will go down in the history of the Congress in the scientific preparation process.
Accordingly, Türkiye ended up at the top in abstract applications, leaving the countries of the world behind.
It is the first country to reach that number in the 77-year history of Congress.
According to official data from the International Astronautical Federation (IAF), 8,320 abstracts for scientific studies from 108 countries were submitted to the congress. This made Türkiye the first country to reach this number in the 77-year history of the Congress.
In addition, 1,810 applications from Turkey were registered, which is the highest number of applications from a single country to date.
With this, Türkiye broke two separate records with applications for article summaries and the highest participation from a single country. This record was last recorded by Italy, which received almost 7,000 applications in 2024.
Paper proposals submitted during the congress include summaries and brief explanations of the scientific studies to be presented by the participants. These scientific studies are expected to play a critical role in Congress' contributions to the space domain.
The 77th International Space Congress, held under the theme “The World Needs More Space,” will also serve as a strategic diplomacy platform bringing together leaders of the global space ecosystem, astronauts and decision-makers.
Congratulations from Minister Kacır
Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır, whose views were included in the statement, said he congratulated the double success achieved during the congress process.
Kacır expressed his delight at the great interest in the applications and said: “With the National Space Program that we have implemented under the leadership of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we will organize an event that will make Türkiye's rise in space science and technology known to the world and ensure that space studies serve humanity's shared future.” he said.
