REMspace, a neurotechnology startup based in the US and Russia, has made a claim that will shock the scientific world: It announced that it has achieved two-way communication between two participants in lucid dreaming (also called lucid dreaming) for the first time.
Company boss Michael Raduga appeared in May 2023 with the news that he had a microchip implanted in his head to control his dreams. Raduga stated that the chip is designed to stimulate the brain's motor cortex during REM sleep.
Mental health can be improved
In its press release, the company claimed that lucid dreaming, particularly during the rapid eye movement (REM) phase, has many potential applications, including resolving mental health issues and learning new skills.
“It is possible to develop new skills”
Raduga highlights the psychological benefits of lucid dreaming, noting that it can help reduce nightmares, combat phobias, and address personal problems. It also suggests that it is possible to develop new skills while lucid dreaming.
The REMspace team claimed to have established communication between two participants during a lucid dream on September 24, 2024.
According to Raduga, while dreaming through headphones, participants were given random words generated by a moderator. One of the participants reportedly repeated the word in his dream, while the second confirmed the word upon waking, in what REMspace described as the first example of two-way dream communication.
Dream language developed
Raduga also claims that the team has developed a dream language called Remmyo that can be detected by electromyography sensors. These sensors can detect certain sounds that occur during dreams. According to REMspace, this technology enables real-time communication while dreaming, but these results have not yet been peer-reviewed.
As REMspace continues its revolutionary research, it is working to enable more complex forms of dream communication in the future, including full conversations and interactions with external servers.
Raduga predicts that “dream communication will be widespread within a few years.” Until then, the scientific community awaits peer approval to test these intriguing but currently unconfirmed claims.
What is lucid dreaming?
According to WebMD, which publishes information about human health, lucid dreaming is known as the state of being aware that you are dreaming while you sleep. According to research, about 50 percent of people report having had at least one lucid dream. The idea of communicating in such a situation is still in its early stages of research.
