Astronomers have discovered the triple star system using artificial intelligence

According to Science Daily magazine, a team of professional and amateur astronomers studied the “flashes” detected by TESS using artificial intelligence.

As a result of research, astronomers discovered the “unique” triple star system.

It was found that two stars that rotate in their orbits in about two days in the star system called “TIC 290061484” are accompanied by a third star that rotates in 25 days.

This discovery broke the 33-day rotation speed record set in the triple star system.

Saul Rappaport, a physicist from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) who was part of the study team, said in a statement: “The discovery of such a system is exciting because they are rare, but they may be more common than current counts suggest let.” “

Veselin Kostov from the SETI Institute at NASA Ames Research Center also explained that the data obtained from satellites could be better understood with artificial intelligence.

Noting that in this context they could measure the orbits, masses, sizes and temperatures of stars, Kostov shared the information: “This allows us to study how the system formed and predict how it might evolve.”

The results of the research were published in “The Astrophysical Journal”.
