According to the academy, the application process for the TÜBA-TEKNOFEST Doctoral Science Awards 2026 has begun.
Applications for the doctoral theses awards launched by TÜBA in 2021 can be made via the website “www.bilimodulleri.tuba.gov.tr”. The program will include doctoral theses that come from Türkiye and have completed the defense process in 2024 and 2025.
Applications are accepted individually or upon recommendation from TÜBA members, the Council for Higher Education (YÖK), TÜBİTAK, the Chair of Turkish Health Institutes (TÜSEB) and university rectorates.
In addition, in accordance with the decision of the Academy Council, the “Fuat Sezgin Doctoral Award in the History of Science” will be awarded for the first time this year.
200,000 lira prize money for the winner
TÜBA awards its traditional awards in four main categories: natural and engineering sciences, health and life sciences, social and human sciences and basic sciences.
This year, the first place winner of the thesis will receive 200,000 lira, the second place winner will receive 150,000 lira and the third place winner will receive 100,000 lira.
The aim of the awards is to promote doctoral theses in the areas of technology and design, artificial intelligence, machine learning, autonomous systems, robotics and mechatronic systems, modeling and simulation technologies, energy, hybrid and electric vehicle technologies, aerospace and unmanned underwater systems, information and communication technologies, cybersecurity and cryptology, education, health, agriculture and ecological technologies, and biotechnology.
Topics such as international relations, development policy, educational approaches and security policy in connection with the National Technology Move are also among the main focuses of the award program.
Türkiye's academic and technological capacities will be strengthened
TÜBA President Prof., whose views were incorporated into the statement. Dr. Muzaffer Şeker explained that the TÜBA-TEKNOFEST Doctoral Science Awards give visibility to qualified doctoral studies that directly contribute to Türkiye's science and technology vision.
Pointing out that research on the history of science will also be supported with the Fuat Sezgin Doctoral Prize in the History of Science, which will be awarded for the first time this year, Şeker said, “The studies that young researchers will produce in line with the goals of the National Technology Move will further strengthen Türkiye's academic and technological capacities.”
