Apple will pay $95 million in the Siri case

The tentative agreement, which must be approved by Judge Jeffrey White of the Northern District Court of California, was filed in federal court in Oakland.

The lawsuit was filed alleging that “Siri” could be activated unintentionally and that recorded conversations of users were passed on to third parties without their consent.

Although Apple denied the allegations, the company agreed to settle and pay $95 million.

If the agreement is approved, users of “Siri”-enabled devices will be able to receive payments of up to $20 per device.

Siri first appeared on 4S models in 2011

The deal applies to US users who owned a Siri-enabled iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, MacBook, iMac, HomePod, iPod touch or Apple TV between September 17, 2014 and December 31, 2024.

The voice assistant technology “Siri” was first included in the iPhone 4S models released in 2011.

The Hey Siri feature, which allows users to activate Siri hands-free, was introduced in 2014.
