Türksat 6A will be put into operation in the first quarter of 2025

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu reminded that the first domestic and national satellite Türksat 6A reached the 50 degree east test orbit on July 20.

Uraloğlu stated that the satellite was fixed at an altitude of 35,786 kilometers and underwent hundreds of tests in eight separate systems: “Energy, satellite management, orbit alignment and control, chemical propulsion, electric propulsion, thermal control, telemetry, telecommunications, etc “Range measurements and tests of the payload subsystem were carried out on our satellite.” “Our satellite successfully passed all tests,” he said.

“Systems and devices have been tested”

Uraloğlu stated that Türksat 6A periodically carries out north-south and east-west maneuvers on the 50-degree eastern runway.

Uraloğlu pointed out that the eastern maneuver was successfully carried out with the ignition of the electric propulsion subsystem manufactured with domestic and national technology, and stated that during the orbital tests, the functionality of the subsystems and experimental equipment on the satellite such as orbital alignment and control was affected, Satellite management, power and thermal control were also tested.

Uraloğlu pointed out that the subsystems work smoothly together and continued his explanation as follows:

“The experimental reaction wheel equipment designed and manufactured by TUBITAK Space was tested and successfully powered in orbit for the first time. At the same time, it was found that the experimental solar sensor equipment worked successfully. In August, tests were carried out. The TTM subsystem manufactured by Ctech also worked successfully. The telecommunications receiver and telemetry beacon signal transmitter equipment developed and manufactured by Ctech were also successfully tested, and tests of the satellite's payload subsystem were also carried out.

Stating that the satellite ground station and software as well as the subsystems used in the satellite were manufactured with national funds, Uraloğlu said, “At present, all functions of the satellite are normal and the process is progressing as planned. We have started preparations.” “With commissioning in the first quarter of 2025, we will bring our country into the space race.” “We will go one step further,” he said.

“The way for exports will be cleared”

Stating that Turkey will make significant progress after the entry into service of Türksat 6A, Uraloğlu said, “Every part of our satellite, which will be manufactured at a domestic production rate of over 80 percent, will have gained space experience. Since all these parts have been produced.” “All countries that produce communication satellites can buy these products from us. Not only will we be a country that produces communications satellites, but we will also export all satellite parts, especially for the defense industry. “Local and national products are served.” gave his assessment.

Uraloğlu pointed out that Turkey could earn $250 million in export revenue by producing just one communications satellite, saying:

“Türksat 6A will also help create a trained workforce in the satellite sector. Thanks to the gains in technology and experience, Turkey will have a significant market share in the development and production of satellites and their components.”
