Interest in electric vehicles is increasing in Turkey

According to the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD), Turkey's automobile and light commercial vehicle market decreased by 0.5 percent in the January-November 2024 period compared to the same period last year, reaching 1 million 68 thousand 260 units.

During this period, automobile sales increased by 0.5 percent year-on-year, reaching 845,000,530 units, while the light commercial vehicle market fell by 4.4 percent, reaching 222,000,730 units.

In the period January to November, the number of “fully electric” cars sold rose by 38.6 percent, reaching 83,298. The share of fully electric cars in total sales rose from 7.1 percent to 9.9 percent compared to the same period last year, and the share of hybrid cars rose from 10.9 percent to 17.7 percent.

When looking at “Full Electric”, “Extended Range Electric” and “Hybrid” vehicles, it was found that 27.6 percent of the total market consisted of vehicles with electric motors.

The T10X has a difference of 15,000 to its nearest competitor

According to ODMD data, Togg maintained its market leadership in electric cars eleven months of the year.

With sales of 24,000,361 units in the 11-month period of the year, Togg outperformed its nearest competitor by 15,000,134 units. During this period, Togg's market share for electric cars was 29 percent. Around one in three electric cars sold bore the Togg logo.

The best-selling electrical brands

Looking at electric car sales on a brand basis, Tesla with 9,227 units and BMW with 8,000 followed Togg with 41 units in the January-November period.

Mercedes-Benz ranked fourth with 4,000,532 units and KG Mobility (Ssangyong) ranked fifth with 4,000,392 units.

In terms of model, the customers in the period mentioned were Togg T10X, Tesla Model Y, KG Mobility Torres, BMW X1 and MINI Countryman.

On the other hand, looking at November, in the all-electric car market, Togg took first place with 13,554 units with 4,221 sales, Tesla took second place with 1,862 sales and BMW took third place with 1,465 sales. MINI took fourth place with 698 sales, while Mercedes-Benz took fifth place with 601 sales.
