Are you going to the food bowl? You shouldn't miss this

Since 2017, this newspaper has brought together chefs from Southern California and sometimes far beyond for a feast of food and drink that the late restaurant critic Jonathan Gold jokingly called the “Food Bowl.” The name stuck. This year's festival focuses on a weekend of food and drink at the Paramount Pictures Studios Backlot in September. 20-22 (5515 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles). In between bites and sips, head to the Food Bowl stage for cooking demonstrations and, on Friday evening, the presentation of two special awards: LA Times Restaurant of the Year and Gold Award.
