It was announced that Meta would temporarily close text-based threads that it published as competition to Twitter or its new name, X.
The company announced that it will temporarily suspend its operations in Turkey starting April 29 to comply with the Turkish Competition Authority's interim order.
In its investigation into meta-platforms last month, the Competition Authority decided to impose an administrative penalty of TL 4.8 million per day and take temporary measures to prevent the data merging behavior that may occur due to the data transfer mechanism between Instagram and Threads.
The statement also noted that Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp or other meta-applications deployed in Turkey are not affected by this situation.
